If you are not one of the blessed people who wake up in the morning fresh and loaded with energy, then this smoothie might be just for you! I, personally need an extra boost at the morning and sometimes even the coffee can’t help me. So, I came up with this smoothie recipe loaded with antioxidants, healthy fats, protein and detoxifying spinach! Let’s get started!
- 3 handfuls spinach
- 1 handful frozen blueberries
- ½ Avocado
- ½ tbs Extra Virgin Coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon Chia seeds
- 1 scoop Whey protein (chocolate flavoured)*
- 1 ½ Glass filtered water
You can add ice cubes if you want thicker consistency.
Put everything in a blender, besides the protein, and blend for one minute. When everything is blend well together, add the whey protein powder (or any protein of your choice) and blend for another minute! You can store the leftover in a jar in the refrigerator for the next morning (just make sure to shake it before use). Enjoy!
I no longer recommend using WHEY protein. When this post was published I was in my transition to the vegan lifestyle and I was still using some dairy products.
There are plenty of VEGAN protein powders out there that are good not only for the animals and the environment but also for your HEALTH.
If you are not comfortable using store bought powders you can boost your protein intake with nuts, seeds and oats.
